Aloha, Hawaii ASID Members:
Here’s hoping this finds all of you safe and healthy. We have a lot of news this month, including free CEUs, Design Excellence update and our new recipe sharing venture. We are also offering an exciting opportunity of free advertising on our website and social media platforms. See below for all of the details.
Design Excellence
As you are aware, in response to the uncertain times caused by COVID-19, ASID Hawaii Chapter Board has decided it is in the best interest of everyone to extend the ASID Design Excellence Awards Call for Entries to Monday, April 20, 2020 5:00pm HST.
We are extending the entrant submission deadline to Saturday, May 30, 2020 5:00pm HST. In the event of any unforeseen circumstances, we will push the due date out further if necessary.
We have also decided to postpone the Design Excellence Awards Gala that was scheduled for June 27, 2020. We are currently exploring new dates in the fall of 2020. The rescheduled date will be shared with you when available.
Free Advertising
During this unprecedented time of change it has become our board’s mission to assist in driving business to our membership. We are offering a temporary no cost opportunity for all our members to be featured on our website and social media platforms. This includes a slide on our home page for one week, a small ad in our newsletter (IPs only) and small ads posted on our Facebook page and on Instagram.
To participate, please submit the following for our use in your promotion:
- 1-2 High Resolution Photos of your Interior Design work
- Logo and/or personal image
- Company digital information - website, IG, etc
- 1-2 sentence bio - this needs to be short enough to be catching on Instagram and Facebook.

Free CEUs
National has also lent a helping hand to support the community in this time of uncertainty, They are offering their library of CEUs free of charge to anyone and everyone. Take advantage of your time at home and complete IDCEC- and AIA-approved CEUs on a diverse range of topics, such as health and wellness, sustainability, the business of design, and much more. In addition to the variety of educational tools and resources offered through the ASID Academy, a new series of special edition COVID-19 webinars and learning opportunities to help educate you through this pandemic and prepare you for what lies ahead are also available. For those of you who were unable to watch the free webinar titled Diversifying Your Practice: How to Expand Your Services and Bolster Your Business, you can watch a recording. Recipe Exchange
I’m sure like most of you, with all this extra time at home, you are probably cooking and baking more. So, I thought perhaps a recipe exchange would be a nice resource. Please submit your favorite recipes to administrator@hi.asid.org. Recipes will be posted on our website under the Resources tab of the home page. Please check it out and try my favorite Chicken Picata recipe.

Chaminade University's Environmental + Interior Design Program Receives Accredidation
The Accreditation Commission of the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) reviewed Chaminade University's Environmental + Interior Design program at their April 3‐4, 2020 meeting and voted to grant accreditation. The term of accreditation is six years.

ASID members must earn a minimum of 1.0 unit (10 hours) of approved continuing education (CEU) every two years. We’ve updated the instructions for CEU reporting that align with IDCEC’s new website to help you navigate the process.
ASID members are to utilize the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) registry to warehouse CEUs. Every ASID member has a unique IDCEC number to login into the website (your IDCEC number is different than your ASID number). The IDCEC user registry allows you to upload and track your continuing education activity as well as store a record under your account. Check your IDCEC account regularly to ensure your records are up to date.
Each year, ASID recognizes the exemplary achievements and outstanding service demonstrated by highly engaged members, chapters, student chapters, and industry partners through our awards and honors programs.
Website Log-in Help
The default login info is first name.lastname.member ID, and then the password is just your member ID. If you’ve forgotten your password, click Log In and then click Forgot Password.
