President’s Message
The SYSTEMCENTER hosted their livestreamed virtual double CEU event last Thursday. They went over topics such as outdoor furniture materials and “Out is the New In”-integrating nature within office space. We’re glad our members could participate, and we want to thank The SYSTEMCENTER for providing such an enlightening event.
Due to the high case counts and stricter restrictions in Hawaii, we will be postponing our upcoming HonBlue Pau Hana Event and our Ask A Designer Event until further notice. We will continue to adjust to the changes and we hope everyone in our community stays safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing you all in person soon.
Chaminade University is looking for the new director of the Environmental + Interior Design program. This is an immediate opening so please help us spread the word. If you or anyone you know is interested in the position, please check out the job description

What Design for Aging Gets Horribly Wrong
Fast Company
For most of us, thinking about the experience of aging conjures up imagery of golf, relaxing, and RV trips — illustrations that are idyllic, but severely outdated. Our minds also drift to all-too-stereotypical products like Life Alert and cold, clinical bath supports. Suffice to say, the landscape of products for older adults is a depressing sea of beige and stainless steel.

One Voice
Each day interior designers use their voices and visions to reshape spaces--and therefore the lives of those occupying them--for the better. With those same voices working in unison, they have the power to design a better future for themselves and the entire profession. That is why ASID began One Voice; to empower interior designers to get involved and advocate for or against the public policy that will ultimately influence their careers and lives.
