President’s Message
Aloha, Members:
ASID Hawaii is once again hosting Design Impacts Lives, a fundraising and awareness event on September 7. The purpose of the event is threefold:
- Educate the public on interior design today.
- Community service event to raise funds for our chapter to fund educational events and CEUs.
- Raise funds for Habitat for Humanity.
This free event will be open to the public and heavily promoted on TV, radio, print and social media in a big way. This event brings huge benefits to interior designers, so don't miss out on the opportunity to showcase your work and to meet potential clients. And...drum roll please... it's free to attend and participate!
But in order to reap the benefits, you need to participate. Throughout the day there will be booths and table tops by sponsor companies, all focused on presenting materials that can impact our work space, home life and emotional well-being. We will have an ASID booth that will have a continuous loop of member projects, including last year’s award winners and information on the value of working with a designer. Meet a Designer and the Panel discussions give you direct interaction with the public goers who are seeking design assistance.
Here are the ways in which you can participate:
- Purchase a sponsorship (includes a booth or table and speaking opportunity).
- Donate items to our sample sale.
- Sign up as a panel speaker.
- Participate in Meet a Designer. Specialties: Kitchen/Bath, Residential, Commercial, Hospitality.
- Submit project photos for our slideshow (focus is on projects that can positively impact our work space, home life and emotional well-being).
- Volunteer your time.

ASID, our Chapters, and Industry Partners offer a variety of continuing education opportunities in-person and online.
- ASID Academy: ASID assembled this catalog of online design courses, papers, and videos to bring the best continuing education offerings to ASID members and other designers in an easily-accessible, online-anytime, curated collection. Earn IDCEC and AIA-approved and accredited CEUs in a variety of topic areas including health and wellness, biophilia, HSW, and much more. ASID bylaws and policies require all practitioner members (Professional, Allied, and Associate members) to meet the Society’s continuing education requirement.

ASID members must earn a minimum of 1.0 unit (10 hours) of approved continuing education (CEU) every two years. We’ve updated the instructions for CEU reporting that align with IDCEC’s new website to help you navigate the process.
ASID members are to utilize the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) registry to warehouse CEUs. Every ASID member has a unique IDCEC number to login into the website (your IDCEC number is different than your ASID number). The IDCEC user registry allows you to upload and track your continuing education activity as well as store a record under your account. Check your IDCEC account regularly to ensure your records are up to date.
Each year, ASID recognizes the exemplary achievements and outstanding service demonstrated by highly engaged members, chapters, student chapters, and industry partners through our awards and honors programs.
