President’s Message
Aloha, ASID Hawaii Chapter Members:
I am excited to represent the Hawaii Chapter of ASID for this 2021-2022 board year! The board is working diligently to provide many events and opportunities to our members. Please know that we are here for you, we would love to hear any feedback. I know everyone is “Zoomed” out from the past year, but here is an opportunity for us to find some normalcy once again.
I hope to have some sort of face to face (restrictions allowing) soon, so that you can meet our new board and learn more about what we have planned for this year! Our monthly newsletters, email blasts and social media outlets will also be continuously updated!
I am also looking forward to our biggest event of the year – The Design Excellence Awards. We will be looking for Design Awards committee members, if you are interested in participating, please email me at president@hi.asid.org.
This year’s PBX21 annual trade show for building and design industries has been rescheduled for the new year, January 26, 2022. See the latest products and services from local and national vendors, visit https://pbxhawaii.com/ for the latest updates.
We are always looking for members and industry partners who want to be involved in ASID committees; if you are interested in jumping in, please email me. I would love to get to know more of my fellow designers and make this year an amazing one!!
Thank you,
Christine Reimer, Allied ASID

Proof of this is evident at 5121 Hanalei Plantation Road, which provides a panoramic window on this island paradise, framing vistas that change with the time of day, weather and season.

The global wellness real estate market has nearly doubled over the course of three years.
Design memes have arrived. What does that mean?
Business of Home
Last year, I started noticing something funny happening to my Instagram feed. The endless flow of pristine houses and beautiful rooms was starting to be interrupted by content that was, well, weird. Cartoon frogs were making jokes about Vladimir Kagan. Shiba Inus were weighing in on modernist architecture. Willy Wonka had feelings about chinoiserie. It had finally happened: meme culture had come to design.

ASID members must earn a minimum of 10 unit (10 hours) of approved continuing education (CEU) every two years. We’ve updated the instructions for CEU reporting that align with IDCEC’s new website to help you navigate the process.
ASID members are to utilize the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) registry to warehouse CEUs. Every ASID member has a unique IDCEC number to login into the website (your IDCEC number is different than your ASID number). The IDCEC user registry allows you to upload and track your continuing education activity as well as store a record under your account. Check your IDCEC account regularly to ensure your records are up to date.
Each year, ASID recognizes the exemplary achievements and outstanding service demonstrated by highly engaged members, chapters, student chapters, and industry partners through our awards and honors programs.
One Voice
