Mahalo to our 2021 All Access and Newsletter Sponsors

President’s Message

Aloha Members,

My year as your chapter president has come to an end and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the ASID Hawaii Chapter. I would like to thank our administrator and the board of directors for their incredible support. During this unprecedented time, I am proud with the collaboration, dedication, and teamwork from the board, and I am confident that the chapter will continue to forge ahead and see many more successful years. I would also like to thank this year’s sponsors. We are so happy with the immense support and enthusiasm our sponsors have shown. The generous funds from your sponsorship helped us to further engage our members.

I’d also like to welcome back our student representative to the board Rohin Kapadia, from his trip to SCALE: The ASID National Student Summit in Washington D.C. I want to encourage this yearly effort to send our student members to SCALE and provide the opportunities for them to explore, learn, and network with industry leaders and peers. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support of our members and industry partners.

Please pick up this month’s issue of Hawaii Home + Remodeling. Our wonderful designers Shawn Moynahan and Susan Moss of Trans-Pacific Design, Catherine Valentine from Philpotts Interiors, and our incoming chapter president Christine Reimer of MCYIA Interior Architecture and Design provided their knowledge and advice for homeowners in need of some design assistance. Christine also wrote a great article on how people can benefit from hiring an ASID Interior Designer. She’s already doing so much to promote the chapter. You can click the link to read the article, and please forward this along! https://www.hawaiihomemag.com/how-you-can-benefit-from-hiring-an-asid-interior-designer/

Please contact our chapter administrator if you are interested in becoming more involved. I encourage our members to volunteer for a committee or even join the board. Let us know if you have any ideas on how we can best support you as a member. My time being on the board was an incredible experience and I wish Christine and the board the best of luck for this upcoming year.

Thank you,

McKenna Makizuru, Allied ASID

CEUs

ASID members must earn a minimum of 10 unit (10 hours) of approved continuing education (CEU) every two years. We’ve updated the instructions for CEU reporting that align with IDCEC’s new website to help you navigate the process.

ASID members are to utilize the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) registry to warehouse CEUs. Every ASID member has a unique IDCEC number to login into the website (your IDCEC number is different than your ASID number). The IDCEC user registry allows you to upload and track your continuing education activity as well as store a record under your account. Check your IDCEC account regularly to ensure your records are up to date.

Awards & Competition

Each year, ASID recognizes the exemplary achievements and outstanding service demonstrated by highly engaged members, chapters, student chapters, and industry partners through our awards and honors programs.

One Voice

Each day interior designers use their voices and visions to reshape spaces--and therefore the lives of those occupying them--for the better. With those same voices working in unison, they have the power to design a better future for themselves and the entire profession. That is why ASID began One Voice; to empower interior designers to get involved and advocate for or against the public policy that will ultimately influence their careers and lives.
